Critically acclaimed actor-writer-director Frank Whaley has successfully maneuvered his extensive acting career (Born on the Fourth of July, Field of Dreams, The Freshman, The Doors, Pulp Fiction, Career Opportunities, Swing Kids, Swimming With Sharks, Vacancy) into an admirable renaissance as an accomplished filmmaker. His first feature, Joe The King (MVFF22), premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won Whaley the esteemed Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. He has continued to create insightful and compelling independent films (The Jimmy Show, New York Serenade), including his beautifully nuanced and emotionally sophisticated new project Like Sunday, Like Rain.

 

 

 

Leighton Meester recently finished a critically acclaimed Broadway run of the John Steinbeck playOf Mice and Men with James Franco and Chris O’Dowd. She began her career performing in regional theatre before receiving critical acclaim for her portrayal of “Blair Waldorf” on the hit show “Gossip Girl.” Also a singer/songwriter, she starred opposite Gwyneth Paltrow in Country Strongand will soon be seen in Warner Brothers’ upcoming The Judge with Robert Downey, Jr.

 

Local rock star Billie Joe Armstrong is the lead singer-songwriter-guitarist of five-time Grammy Award-and two-time Tony Award-winning punk band GREEN DAY, one of the world’s best-selling groups of all time. After releasing successful albums Dookie, InsomniacNimrod, and Warning, Green Day conquered Broadway with the musical version of their rock opera album American Idiot. Fleshing out his diverse resume, Armstrong makes a favorable impression as a featured player in the new independent film Like Sunday, Like Rain.
