MVFF36 at The Lark

We are excited to announce the addition of the historic Lark Theater
in Larkspur to this year’s official Festival’s screening venues.

With the Lark Theater’s participation, MVFF is responding to increased demand for access and greater availability to the Festival’s world class programming.

“As newly appointed Executive Director of the Lark Theater,” said Ellie Mednick, “I am thrilled to welcome the Mill Valley Film Festival to our charming and comfortable venue in historic downtown Larkspur. With the Lark’s goal to offer more variety and widen our footprint in the County, we open our doors to the many movie fans perhaps not familiar with our fully restored 1936 Art Deco single-screen gem on Magnolia Avenue.  We offer 246 comfortable seats, wide aisles, new digital technology, gourmet concessions and plenty of parking! The Lark Board, management and staff are proud and excited to have the Lark a part of this renowned international film festival.”

“It is terrific to be back at the Lark Theater. We love this theater. We love the community of Larkspur,” said Mark Fishkin, Executive Director of the California Film Institute (CFI) and Founder of the Mill Valley Film Festival, “CFI had the pleasure of operating the Lark Theater for three years before the opening of the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center. We’re delighted to be together again for this year’s Mill Valley Film Festival!”

The Story: Seven childhood friends and one unexpected guest come together at a bucolic lake house to comfort one another, reconnect, reconcile and possibly rekindle romance in this wry, emotionally potent Big Chill for the Millennial Generation.
