Since the mid-1980s, Laura Dern has been engaging audiences with her entirely unique and wholly authentic screen presence. The daughter of celebrated actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd has made her mark several times over in such films as Mask, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Rambling Rose, Jurassic Park, and Citizen Ruth, among many others. She has garnered her most recent accolades for her Golden Globe winning work on the critically praised HBO series Enlightened. Her career continues to soar with recent cinematic hits The Master and The Fault in Our Stars, as well as her latest role in the buzzy new release, Wild.
Join us for this special Closing Night Tribute program featuring a conversation with Laura Dern and a screening of wild. Dern will be presented with the MVFF Award by award-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, WALL•E, A Bug's Life).

Reese Witherspoon stars in this adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s best-selling memoir, a striking account of the 1,100-mile Pacific Crest Trail trek she undertakes to grieve the death of her mother (Laura Dern) and help give closure to a troubled past.
Preceding the MVFF37 Closing Night Film, a new short from Disney’s Pixar – Lava is a musical love story taking place over millions of years, inspired by the isolated beauty of tropical islands and the explosive allure of ocean volcanoes.
Immediately following the program, join us in celebrating the grand finale of the 37th Mill Valley Film Festival. Enjoy live music on the terrace by Danny Click, or a martini in the Drake Room bar with Enigma Presents World Class DJ Music accompanied by live musicians. Sol Food, Theresa & Johnny’s Comfort Food, Big Jim’s BBQ, and West End Cafe are just a few of the wonderful caterers for this special evening.
